Architectural Models: Muted Colours

Middle East: The use of muted colours when making an architectural model.

As architectural model makers, we often get asked to produce models that overemphasise colours, especially greens for landscaping and trees, hoping the model portrays a look of a fertile environment.  When making models for the London market, the complete opposite is expected, with models showing muted and washed-out colours which are toned down to match a model’s scale.  It is important to remember when making a model that colours and building elements require scaling.  Landscaping, trees, and street furniture should blend in with the model in size and colour.
